Erdogan warms to the idea of diplomatic ties with Israel

Repaired diplomatic relations between Israel and Ankara would benefit the entire region, Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak on Monday cited Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying.

However, Erdogan noted that Israel has not met all of Ankara demands for the "normalization" of ties, which include compensating the families of victims on the 2010 Mavi Marmara flotilla and lifting the "blockade on Palestine." 

While the Turkish leader acknowledged that Jerusalem had met one of Ankara's three conditions, by issuing an official apology over the raid of the Gaza-bound vessel.
