the estée lauder companies’breast cancer awareness campaignwants you to join in their campaign to “win the fight on breast cancer”
This October, as the Company enters its fifteenth year in the fight against breast cancer,
it will engage fourteen of the world’s most sought-after beauty brands, hundreds of
government officials and corporate partners, and millions of people in the battle to beat
breast cancer by spreading awareness and raising funds for a cure. Will you join us?
The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness
Campaign is preparing for a showdown in the battle against breast cancer this fall and
has its sights set on one goal — to “Win the Fight on Breast Cancer.” Around the world and including Dubai in October, the Company will host a series of high-profile events, sell gorgeous pink beauty products, illuminate hundreds of famous landmarks in pink lights and engage corporate partners, government officials, celebrities and the media to spread its lifesaving message about the need for early detection of breast cancer and to raise funds for coordinated research for prevention and a cure for breast cancer.
In Dubai, this campaign will be strongly evident as not one, but four of Dubai’s most famous landmarks will be illuminated in pink at select times throughout October, as a show of support to the cause: The Burj Al Arab hotel, The Dubai Creek Golf Club’s Creek tent, The Grand Hyatt Hotel and The Bateaux Dubai (floating restaurant, cruising along Dubai creek)
“Pink illuminations of these amazing landmarks will clearly be the most publicly visible display of our campaign”, said Didier Picard, Vice president/General Manager Estee Lauder Middle East. “Toward that end, the Company is launching a new Campaign this year, which is ‘Win the Fight on Breast Cancer,’ to signify the importance of bringing people together to fight breast cancer until there is a cure. The new Campaign will be featured at our brands’ counters in the UAE, Middle East and around the world beginning of October. Most of all, our iconic pink ribbons will be available and we encourage everyone to wear them this month and buy pink products”.
Estee Lauder Middle East has also tied up with several corporations and key people in the health community to conduct high profile awareness and charitable activities throughout the month of October, such as presentations on breast cancer awareness, fund raisers and promotions, for example the Park Hyatt Hotel is offering 20% donation from 'Pampered in Pink' Package Spa Treatments booked during the month of October in partnership with The Estee Lauder Companies. The funds will go to the breast cancer
Research Foundation of the Emirates, founded by Dr. Houriya Kazim, one of UAE’s leading breast cancer surgeons.
Dr. Kazim has been a supportive partner to the breast cancer awareness campaign started by Estee Lauder in the Middle East for several years.
Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in the world today and the most common
cause of cancer-related deaths among women. According to the World Health
Organization, more than 1.2 million people worldwide will be diagnosed with breast
cancer this year. The good news is that mortality rates are declining in all women and this is believed to be the result of early detection and more effective treatments.
“The battle is not yet won in the fight to beat breast cancer, but we are getting close,”
said Evelyn H. Lauder, Senior Corporate Vice President of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. and Founder and Chairman of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. “Today, there are more scientific leads than ever before, yet government funding for breast cancer research continues to decline. That is why, now more than ever, we must raise our voices even higher and continue to raise funds for research.”
“I am especially grateful to our Company’s brands, our employees and our many
partners, who for 15 years have been in lockstep with us in this battle. Their commitment
and dedication year after year has helped many women and their families survive this
disease and helped fund cutting-edge research for prevention and a cure,” said Lauder.
“Our efforts are making a difference, but this fight is not yet over,” she said. “We must
persist and continue to pursue what we all believe is attainable in our lifetime — a world
without breast cancer.”
In the Middle East, 6 Estee Lauder Companies’ brands will join forces to help raise money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation this October: Estee Lauder, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, La Mer, Darphin, Aramis & Designer Fragrances. These brands will display counter information, distribute pink ribbons and hand out informational materials regarding breast health.
