Etihad Crystal Cargo, the cargo division of Etihad Airways, will shortly offer cargo capacity to Kuwait, thanks to the launch of Etihad Airways’ new Guest services on 1 July.
Etihad Airways will operate six-flights-a-week between Abu Dhabi and Kuwait City with a combination of the airline’s state-of-the-art Airbus 330-200 and Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, offering a cargo capacity of 14 to 20 tonnes with a full passenger load.
“Abu Dhabi and Kuwait share strong commercial bonds. The introduction of the new service will enhance the strong trade links within the GCC and across the globe,” said Ingo Roessler, Vice President Cargo, Etihad Airways.
Kuwait ranks amongst the TOP 20 countries world-wide with IATA forecasting an average annual growth of 6.6 % for the Kuwaiti air cargo market in the period 2005-2009. The commodities which Etihad Crystal Cargo is expecting to transport on the new route, are primarily personal effects and oil-related products.
“Long-term, Etihad Crystal Cargo strives to position itself as premium service provider in the Kuwaiti market. We are constantly enhancing the quality of our cargo services – currently we are for example introducing an SMS tracking tool in the United Arab Emirates – which we are planning to introduce in GCC later on,” added Roessler.
Etihad Crystal Cargo has appointed National Aviation Services (NAS) to set up its cargo sales, services and Ground Handling in the territory of Kuwait. National Aviation Services (NAS) is a subsidiary of PWC Logistics, Etihad Crystal Cargo’s GSSA for Bahrain.

NAS will also offer bonded cargo and provide extensive trucking services to its customers, with Kuwait serving as a convenient gateway to neighbouring countries.
Flight EY717 operates every Monday, Thursday and Saturday from Abu Dhabi, departing at 19:05 and arriving in Kuwait at 19:45 local time. Return flights leave Kuwait City at 20.45, arriving in the UAE capital at 23:25.

On Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays flights leave Abu Dhabi at 14:25, arriving in Kuwait at 15:05 local time. Return services then depart at 16.05, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 18:45.
