Huawei Technologies, a global leader in networking and telecommunications solutions has been working with Emirates Telecommunications Corporation- Etisalat, to pioneer the move into Next Generation Network (NGN) systems which will offer amongst other services, interconnected voice-data and video communications.
NGN technology seamlessly blends public switched telephone networks (PSTN) and the public switched data network (PSDN) to create a single multi-service network. This visionary technology delivers extreme flexibility that will dramatically reduce costs and satisfy the need for voice and data convergence while allowing operators to take advantage of developing technologies. At the same time, NGN protects existing network investments while ensuring operators can cost-effectively deliver new services.
Etisalat’s decision to partner with Huawei Technologies was based on the company’s international reputation for quality, service and cutting-edge technology, as well as its continued ability to deliver long term value to its clients. Huawei Technologies NGN network went live two months ago.
“Huawei Technologies is enabling ILEC’s like Etisalat to provide faster, more efficient services to consumers, both business and private, without the issues associated with down time and reduced service provisions,” said Liu Jiangfeng, Vice President of Huawei Technologies. At present, the existing Class 5 switching infrastructure can hamper the ability to create and deploy new services that maintain a competitive edge. With the introduction of NGN, it will effectively modernize communications services amongst consumers and lead to lower costs but better services.
“Etisalat has always been in the forefront of technology by investmenting and implementing the latest in advanced communication networks. Etisalat has succeeded on more than one level to position the UAE as one of the most advanced countries in the telecommunications industry,” commented Mohammad Hassan Omran, CEO, Etisalat.
With the UAE’s plans to foster two state-owned telecommunications companies that will work in tandem, the focus of competition will likely shift to high-technology offerings. The UAE market is continuously shifting towards broadband and wireless systems as fixed lines are being phased-out to make way for more advanced and versatile systems. Huawei Technologies major expansion into the regional telecommunications industry will have a major impact on developments in the coming years.
Huawei’s end-to-end NGN solution is currently the leading option for different carriers around the globe as the company provides some of the strongest IP Telecom Network Solutions for Carrier-class QoS in the world. Furthermore, the NGN system’s high capacity, Integration and Processing Capabilities and smooth integration with TDM networking make it highly valued technology for the rapidly changing world of global communications.
Huawei remains a major global provider of telecom solutions and products to over 300 suppliers worldwide and a staff of 30 000. Internationally, twenty-two of the world’s top 50 operators use Huawei products and solutions. Based on the most recent
