Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's national security adviser held talks on Wednesday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher on ways of reviving the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, Egyptian officials said.

Before the talks started,an Egyptian government source told Reuters that officials would tell Ephraim Halevy, former head of the Israeli spy agency Mossad that "Israeli actions...and mutual violence is threatening (the chances of) a political settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which now threatens the stability and security of the region".
