DHL, the global market leader of the international express and logistics industry, today announced the names of the local Jordanian participants taking part in the Connecting Cultures Desert Expedition, which will take place in February 2007 in the Omani desert.
The boys, who have been selected from different parts of the Kingdom are Ra’ed Abu Yaseen, a student majoring in Economics (Jordan University) from Salt; Qusay Al Zo’bi, a Finance graduate (Yarmouk University) from Irbid; and finally Ahmad Hassanat, a Tour Guide from Petra. The three participants from Jordan will join with 11 others from across KSA, Oman, the UK, Pakistan and Fiji in the eight day expedition aimed at promoting intercultural dialogue and building relationships between east and west.
“It was a challenge for us to choose only three boys from the list we had, since all the candidates were keen, enthusiastic and strong believers in the importance of good role models in society and meeting people from other cultures. The three young men selected will be great as ambassadors for Jordan,“ said Mark Evans, founder of Connecting Cultures.
DHL’s support of Connecting Cultures, an initiative supported locally by UNESCO /Ministry of Education and the Jordan Higher Council for Youth, aims to promote cultural understanding between the young people of the Middle East, UK and other nations. As part of its sponsorship DHL is paying for all logistical support of the expedition as well as the living expenses and airfare for all the participants.
