ALBAWABA - Several blasts were reported in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday, as Israel targets senior Hamas officials.

Smoke was seen rising over the Katara District following the explosion sounds, an eyewitness said, Reuters reported.

The IDF released a statement confirming targeting Hamas officials in Qatar, but stressed that "prior to the strike, measures were taken in order to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and additional intelligence."

The Israeli army wrote on Tuesday, "The IDF and ISA conducted a precise strike targeting the senior leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization."

The attack in Doha comes as Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility on Tuesday for the attack carried out by two gunmen in East Jerusalem yesterday, which killed six people.

In a statement, the Al-Qassam Brigades wrote, "We mourn for our great people and our proud nation the martyred Qassam fighter Muthanna Naji Omar and the martyred Qassam fighter Muhammad Bassam Taha." It described the operation as "a qualitative operation... and a clear message that all your (Israel's) failed attempts to dry up the sources of resistance will only result in the shedding of the blood of your soldiers and criminal settlers from where you least expect it."
