According to JANA, the Leader of the Revolution received a letter of thanks and gratitude from President Faure Eyadema president of Togo which reads:
" The Leader Muammar al-Gathafi, leader of the grand al-Fateh Revolution,
Following my return to Lome after taking part in the AU summit in the historic city of Sert, the symbol of the great African Union, I am pleased to express on behalf of the Togolese people and government, and on my own behalf, our profound satisfaction with the fraternal reception accorded to us in your beautiful grand country.
This summit which you chaired with cordiality and wisdom, will remain vivid in our memories as one of the most successful summits from all aspects.
Your big role and ideas set in your address at the inaugural session and your vital approach in taking resolutions in our sessions, and the record level of participation of head of states, all this set our continent, at the end of Sert summit, in a more solidarity and more firm than any time ago.
I would like to highlight to you my admiration of the decisive role you played in making our summit a success, and lay down new signs for political and economic integration of Africa.
The Togolese people who appreciate the resolutions produced by the summit, are proud to be their friend, and share with the Libyan people the values of African unity leading our Union as of now on.
As I renew my sincere thanks for the fraternal and appropriate climate which you conferred on Sert, and which made all delegations set for the serious work, and reaffirm our resolve to continue with your fraternal country in ideal and solidarity relations, Please leader of the great revolution accept my high assurances and appreciations"
