Twenty-five people employed by a factory in northern Jordan were taken to hospital for food poisoning after taking the "iftar" meal to break the Muslim fast of Ramadan, hospital and civil defense officials said Tuesday.
The employees of an unidentified factory in the al-Hassan Industrial City in Irbid, northern Jordan, were among 260 people who were served Monday an "iftar" meal consisting of fish, rice salad and a soft drink, the officials told al-Dustour newspaper.
They started suffering from stomach ache and diarrhoea two hours after the meal and were rushed to two separate Irbid hospitals where they were kept for observation until late Monday before being released, they said.
Samples of the meal were sent to be analysed by a state laboratory, the newspaper said.
