Thousands of people across Jordan took to the streets Tuesday in protest of the 24-hour deadline given by Daesh militants to kill the captured pilot, Mu’ath al-Kasasbeh.
An estimated 10,000 people including family members of the 26-year-old pilot gathered in Karak, while up to 1,000 protesters in Amman chanted: “Daesh blood before our pilot’s blood.”
Father of the pilot, Safi al-Kasasbeh called on the Jordanian government to negotiate with Daesh.
“I am sending the first message to Jordanians,” he said during the protest. “Mu’ath is your son too and his blood is yours.
“My second message is to the king, the army, prime minister, Jordanian intelligence and every authority working on my son’s case – please free him at any cost. My son’s blood is priceless.”
The pilot’s plane crashed in the Daesh stronghold of Raqqa over a month ago when he was captured.
