A local far-right politician in Sweden is taking a temporary break from politics after allegedly threatening to carry out a suicide bombing in a mosque, AFP reported.

Lennart Karlsson, a municipal councilor for Sweden Democrats from the southern town of Habo, is said to have written Islamophobic comments under a pseudonym on several websites.

"I'm going to go to a mosque myself with a fully-loaded vest," Karlsson allegedly wrote under the pseudonym UNObserver.

In an interview with local daily Jonkopings Posten on Tuesday, Karlsson said he believed there were different human races, some with genetic predispositions to intelligence and kindness.

Among other comments made under his pseudonym, Karlsson allegedly wrote that while serving on a UN mission, he had locked "vandalizing Muslims" inside a church that had been set alight and let them burn.

Karlsson claimed his account was hacked, but admitted that the pseudonym belonged to him.
