ALBAWABA - A couple of days after Finland launched a preparedness website, Sweden began distributing leaflets urging more than 5 million residents to prepare for the European country to go to war.

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency's (MSB) leaflet "If Crisis or War Comes" contains information on how to prepare for emergencies such as war, natural disasters, or cyber-attacks.

It is an updated version of a leaflet that Sweden has published five times since WWII. The previous edition, sent out in 2018, made headlines since it was the first time it had been distributed to Swedes since 1961, during the height of the Cold War.

MSB director Mikael Frisell released a statement saying "The security situation is serious and we all need to strengthen our resilience to face various crises and ultimately war,".

The 32-page booklet lists the dangers the Nordic country faces, such as armed warfare, natural disasters, and cyber and terrorist attacks, with straightforward illustrations.

It contains preparedness advice including stockpiling non-perishable food and water. According to MSB, the revised 2024 edition placed more emphasis on war readiness.

Earlier in March, Sweden became a full member of the NATO alliance following months of talks with the governmental military group, followed by Finland on April 4th, 2024.
