First Batch of RIT Dubai Students Receive Degrees at Graduation Ceremony in New York

– RIT Dubai and Dubai Silicon Oasis, the integrated free zone technology park, today announced the first batch of postgraduate students from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai attended the graduation ceremony at the RIT campus in Rochester, New York.

Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni – Vice-Chairman and CEO of DSOA, and Dr. Mustafa AG. Abushagur – President of RIT Dubai accompanied the graduates who traveled to the US to attend the 125th graduation ceremony at RIT New York as part of a continuous exchange programme between the international campuses.

Graduates from RIT Dubai received Masters degrees from three faculties of specialization including: Dubai Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Masters of Science in Finance and Masters of Science in Leadership and Innovation – which are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education.

Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni said: "The first graduation ceremony at RIT Dubai has marked a significant milestone for this campus, as a new generation of business professionals enter the market to lead the way for future students. RIT is an internationally renowned academic institution which we are proud to host within the DSO premises. We are confident students educated at RIT will bear testimony to its global reputation with their skill levels and knowledge."

"This also is a significant milestone for DSO, which has proven its capacity to develop and grow into becoming the leading fully integrated technology free zone in the region," Dr. Zarooni added.

During their visit, the delegation toured the main campus in suburban Rochester which spans 1,300 acres and comprises 238 buildings in total.

Dr. Mustafa AG Abushagur, President of RIT Dubai, said: "We are proud of the first set of graduates, the initial batch of business professionals who have received their accreditation from our university in Dubai. In their respective streams of learning they have displayed greater understanding and innovation. We believe they will prove as key assets to the industry in the region and beyond."
