Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced that First
International Telecom (FITEL), a leading telecom operator in Taiwan, has awarded
Motorola's Networks business a contract to deploy a WiMAX network in northern
Taiwan. It is Motorola's second contract from FITEL, following a WiMAX network
deployment announced in 2008 and reinforces the company's leadership in WiMAX technology in Taiwan and
worldwide.

FITEL plans to launch commercial high-speed mobile data services based on the 4G
technology this year after the WiMAX network is certified by the National
Communications Commission (NCC) in March. The new data services will complement
FITEL's existing voice services based on PHS, extending its mobile offerings and
bringing new media mobility experiences to subscribers. Targeting businesses and
residents, FiTEL's WiMAX network will enable the users with greater and stable
throughput in uplink and downlink.
