The number of confirmed Influenza A/H1N1 cases in Eqypt is now eight. On Tuesday, the American University in Cairo reported five more students have the deadly virus that is quickly spreading around the Middle East.
The news, which came after confirmation of two American students' cases earlier this week, prompted the University to quarantine the dormitory for seven days. This recent onslaught of swine flu cases by foreign travelers has prompted the Egyptian border patrol to take additional precautions. Foreigners entering the country now must provide their addresses, have pictures taken, and have their body temperature recorded in case follow up is needed.
The Egyptian government was criticized after it slaughtered 300,000 live pigs when the swine flu pandemic first started.
