Palestinian sources said Friday night that five people were wounded as Israeli troops already operating in the West Bank city of Jenin expanded their operation. Three of the injured have been taken to a Jenin hospital, the sources said.

The sources said that armored vehicles and tanks were operating in the city, and added that helicopters fire could be heard. Some 50 Israeli tanks stormed back into Jenin early Friday, hours after ending an incursion launched in reprisal for a suicide bombing earlier this week.

Tanks also entered the towns of Qabatiya and Jaba, south of Jenin, with four helicopters opening fire and wounding three Palestinians, the sources said. Also, Israeli forces declared curfews in five villages near Jenin, residents said, and surrounded a house in another village where two suspected activists where believed to be hiding.

Earlier Friday, the Israeli army said its forces arrested a Palestinian woman suspected of planning a suicide attack inside Israel, during an early-morning raid on the West Bank town of Tulkarem.

An army spokesman said troops captured the woman, suspected of plotting to carry out a suicide bombing against Israelis, before pulling out of Tulkarem. Two other men were also detained. (Albawaba.com)
