At least 34 people died and 19 were injured when their homes were swept away by flash floods following a heavy rainstorm in Mwanza, in northern Tanzania, late Friday, official radio reported.
The radio quoted police as saying Saturday that the death toll was expected to rise as rescue efforts continued -- DAR ES SALAAM (AFP)
