Ford Motor Company (FMC) has enhanced its conservation and environmental grants to $90,000 for the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region this year from $60,000 last year, Oman Observer reported.

The initiative will be expanded to include three additional Middle East countries, with the continued support of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Addressing a press conference to launch the 2001 edition of the grant, Marwan Baydas, National Sales Manager of Ford Mena, was quoted by the daily as saying that “Ford is pleased to implement this program for a second year in a row, with the support of an organisation as deeply committed to the global environment as WWF”.

For the second year in the GCC countries, and for the first time in Lebanon, Jordan and Syria, grants will be available to individuals, community groups or other non-profit organisations in the Middle East, said the daily.

The on-going projects will be selected by a panel of distinguished environmental authorities from the Middle East. Projects in four areas — natural environment, environmental education, conservation engineering and the preservation of historical and cultural heritage—are eligible for the grant – Albawba.com
