Following the resignation of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe Tuesday, the speaker of parliament on Wednesday announced that former Vice President Emerson Mnangagwa would be taking over.
Mnangagwa is to be sworn in as president on Friday, announced Speaker Jacob Mudenda in a news conference on Wednesday.
State broadcaster ZTV said Mnangagwa, believed to be in South Africa, was expected to arrive in Zimbabwe Wednesday evening.
