Four skinheads went on trial Tuesday in this eastern German town on charges of insulting, assaulting and then chasing two African asylum seekers through the town in July.
The suspects, three 19-year-olds and a 17-year-old, are charged with causing severe bodily harm and making racist insults.
On July 29, they allegedly attacked two men, one Sudanese and one Togolese, in the Eisenach train station, beat them up, spit at them and chased them through town before police intervened.
All four were arrested within a day of the incident, and three have been in police custody since then. The fourth was placed in a juvenile detention center because he is a minor.
The four had police records for assault. Two had previously been convicted for displaying neo-Nazi symbols.
A Local prosecutor said Tuesday that the four had confessed to the crime.
Last month, a court in the central town of Halle sentenced three young men to long prison terms for viciously attacking a German of Mozambican origin, who later died of his injuries.
One man, 24, received a life sentence, while the others, each 16 years old, were ordered to spend nine years in detention.
