Four Palestinians Stabbed by Israeli Jew in Jerusalem

Four Palestinians were wounded Sunday when they were stabbed by a Jewish Israeli in a Jerusalem supermarket in what police described as a criminal attack, after initially fearing it was in revenge for a deadly bombing in the northern resort of Netanya.

The attacker, apparently attempting to steal from the shop, lashed out with the knife when he was spied by the Palestinian workers in the store, located near the home of Prime Minister Ehud Barak in west Jerusalem.

One was seriously injured and the other three slightly hurt by the Israeli, who shouted racist insults as he attacked.

The incident occurred after a bomb killed three people including its carrier and another two people in Netanya and injured dozens more. One of those injured was an Arab Israeli attacked by an angry crowd after the attack.

Foreign and Public Security Minister Shlomo Ben Ami called on Israelis not to become a "society of lynchers."

"We must fight against terrorism without becoming terrorists ourselves," he told Israeli public radio – JERUSALEM (AFP)
