A freak tornado injured five people, two seriously, and caused extensive damage to houses in the southern English seaside town of Bognor Regis early Sunday.
Britain, particularly Scotland, was swept by fierce winds and heavy rain overnight Saturday, but it was the tornado that swept through Bognor Regis, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) east of Portsmouth, that caused most problems.
Hundreds of houses were damaged and some had their roofs ripped off.
A fire brigade spokesman said: "There was considerable structural damage to many properties. We are still trying to assess the damage, but it appears several hundred houses are affected."
