French Council in favor of a University for Imams

Dr. Dalil Boubekeur, the President of the French Council of the Muslim Service (CFCM) and vice-chancellor of the Large Mosque of Paris, stated on August 1 that he is in favor of a university formation for the imams of France. Liberte Algeria reports that following an interview with the French Prime Minister Domenica de Villepin, Dr. Boubekeur said, "we need a formation which can give the future imams the opportunity to have university degree and to ensure that they have the same status as the French students."
