According to Reuters, a 30-year-old French woman and her Yemeni driver have been abducted by armed gunmen in Yemen's capital city, Sanaa.
Recent reports indicate the woman is an employee of the World Bank, serving as a consultant to Yemen's Social Fund for Development.
"She was kidnapped in front of a ministry in Yemen," France's President Francois Hollande told the press. "We ask for her to be released as soon as possible, we are trying to locate her and will do all we can for her to be freed."
The gunmen attacked the woman's vehicle on 45th Street in central Sanaa and took both her and her driver to an unknown location, the Yemeni sources said.
Yemen has descended into political turmoil after the Houthi rebels took control of the country earlier this month.
