Herewith the full text of the Palestinian leadership's statement Thursday calling on Palestinians to continue their uprising peacefully:
"An agreement was concluded last night (Wednesday) between the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli government urging both parties to deploy intensive efforts to implement the Sharm el-Sheikh accords, as President Bill Clinton stated in his declaration and President Hosni Mubarak did in his speech.
"The Palestinian leadership, which has always affirmed its wish to conform to agreements it has reached, is following closely Israel's implementation of of the accord: the withdrawal of occupation troops and of all military equipment from all regions, towns and agglomerations occupied since September 28, the end of agressions against our unarmed people and the end of all forms of blockades.
"The Palestinian leadership believes it is essential that the Israeli government put an end to the actions of settler groups that continuously commit crimes against our people.
"The Palestinian leadership, attached to the peaceful character of the intifada and which has remained calm in the face of the preceding period of aggression, calls on our heroic people and its national forces for unity and to continue popular activities, and to keep to peaceful methods in all its activities and in its actions on the national level.
"The realization of the peace of the brave which ensures peace, security and justice for all people in the region must be based on the implementation of international law, UN Security Council resolutions 242 and 338, the cornerstones of the peace process, the complete (Israeli) withdrawal of occupied territories, the right of Palestinians to return to their homeland and to build their independent state with Jerusalem as capital." -- GAZA CITY (AFP)
