The Group of Seven "G7" foreign ministers on Monday voiced support for the US-led coalition in "intensifying" its fight against Daesh in Iraq and Syria, AFP reported.
"Terrorism is an urgent global security threat that requires international collaboration and unified responses," the G7 said in a statement following a two-day meeting in Hiroshima, Japan.
"We strongly support the coalition's resolve to intensify and accelerate the campaign against" Daesh militants, the group added.
The coalition has recently ramped up its efforts against Daesh, seeing the militant group suffer a series of territorial losses in both Syria and Iraq.
The coalition has been conducting airstrikes in both countries, as well as providing training and weapons to Iraqi forces as they attempt to retake the city of Mosul from Daesh control.
The G7 includes Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, and the US. The European Union foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, also participated in this week's meeting.
The group also added that it was working on a counter-terror action plan, saying it would be adopted at the G7 summit next month in Japan.
