GAM Commences Third Stage of Al-Shmeisani Intersection

Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has recently commenced work on the third stage of Al-Shmeisani intersection, at a cost of 20 m.JD, to be completed by the end of the current year,

According to the city deputy manager for public works, Fawzi Mas’ad, the first part of this stage shall comprise the two bridges foundation and columns; the first bridge of which is to be located along Al-Nabulsi Street with two lanes each direction, and a length of 300 meters.

The other bridge is located in the direction of Jamal Abdul Naser roundabout (Al-Dakhelia) through Queen Noor Street, and with a length of 420 meters.

Encompasses two lanes, one branch of to two other bridges, One of these sub-bridges is located in the direction of Al-Abdali Development Project, at a length of 200 meters. The other is parallel the bridge going in the direction of Jamal Abdul Naser roundabout (Al-Dakhelia), with a length of 200 meters winding up at the gate of the former (location) of Kulliat Al-Quds (Jerusalem college) .

Eng. Mus’ad pointed out that the second part of the third stage entails the removal of the current bridge and the commencement of execution of the two bridges.

He further added that this stage is almost the end (the completion) of the project and is subject to some amendments leading to finishing it (the project) within the set time framework.


GAM has recently announced the setting up of the traffic detours for the third stage, directing traffic from the Third Circle to Al-Shmeisani area and Wadi Saqra, through the tunnel in the direction of the intersection of the Ministry of the Industry and Trade.

Traffic coming from Wadi Saqra will be directed towards the Fourth Circle, and from there to the Third Circle and Al-Abdali.

Eng .Mus’ad anticipated that the project will be finalized towards the end of the current year, simultaneous with Arafat intersection and its roads network, what is known to be Abdoun Corridor.


Amman Municipality called on all citizens to abide by the new detours and to resort, wherever possible, to alternative roads, which should help them avert traffic jams throughout the project duration.
