– Social Services Department at Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), with the support of Jordan Ahli Bank, recently launched “I Can” Project which enables the children to use the educational tools freely, and gives them time and space to employ their imagination and creativity in expressing themselves.
The launching ceremony of the project which took place on Tuesday at the Culture Palace Theatre in Al Hussein Youth City, was patronized by Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, and included the song “I loved You Amman” (Habbeitek Ana Amman), which deepens the idea of “I can” through folkloric singing and dancing, reading the story “I Can”, and an animation show to revive the character “I Can”.
The project’s organizers set up an action plan focusing on holding workshops for the teachers, parents, and the children to shed light on the outlines of “I Can” book, through building confidence in the children as well as applying the appropriate teaching method, and following small steps to reach the goal.
The workshops focus on motivating children to enjoy reading, providing them with an atmosphere to talk about “I Can’t” experiences at home and school, encouraging them to express emotions or situations that they encountered and overcame.
These workshops also highlight the importance of learning other languages, creating awareness about environment protection and the benefits of recycling.
