A training project for technicians and workers of the dumpsites was launched within the cooperation program between Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and the German Government, sponsored by the ministry of Environment and with participation of the private sector of Germany.
The project aims at providing suitable training, increasing workers’ efficiency, and giving consultations to develop the sites used to handle wastes.
During a workshop held on this matter, Executive Director of Environment at GAM, Engineer Zaidoun Nsour, gave a presentation on the situation of dumpsites in Jordan, he reviewed the Government’s efforts to develop the work at dumpsites since 1990, the procedures taken, and the development which took place to reduce the environmental impacts resulted from these dumpsites.
He also clarified the contents of the national agenda of polices and strategies related to encouraging the private sector in finding solutions and investing in this field.
He referred to GAM’s efforts and directions to solve waste treatment issues upon the latest healthy standards, through investing in the waste treatment domain as the organic gas project in Al Rseifeh, and Al Ghbawi dumpsite, in addition to the training of technical cadres working on this issue.
Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Applied Sciences University, and Science and Technology University participated in the workshop which took place in Holiday Inn Hotel.
