Microsoft founder Bill Gates has been given a glimpse of the future of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, when he visited an exhibition at Emirates Palace devoted to the Cultural District of Saadiyat Island, the 27 square kilometre natural island lying 500 metres offshore Abu Dhabi city.
Touring the exhibition with His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the name behind the transformation of Saadiyat into signature leisure, cultural and residential destination, Gates saw the pioneering design concepts for the museums planned for the district.
Saadiyat Island’s Cultural District will be home to the largest single cluster of world-class cultural assets including the Sheikh Zayed National Museum, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi museum, the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum, a maritime museum, performing arts centre and arts pavilions.
