According to Palestinian media reports, Muhammad Ibrahim al-Riyati, 22, was critically wounded on July 18 when Israeli forces shelled the al-Tanur neighborhood of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

The 22-year-old was taken to a hospital in Egypt, where he was pronounced dead on Monday.

His death came a day after another young Palestinian, identified as Mahmoud Suleiman Sheikh Eid, also from Rafah, died at a hospital in Gaza. He had suffered serious injuries during an Israeli bombardment of Palestinian houses in Rafah.

Gaza Health officials say a total of 2,137 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli onslaught, which started on July 8.

The victims include 577 children, while over 11,100 others, including 3,374 children, 2,088 women and 410 elderly people were injured.

Tel Aviv says 72 Israelis were killed in the conflict, but Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, says the number is much higher.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement has said it fired over 3,000 rockets on dozens of Israeli cities during the Israeli war, which ended on August 26 with an Egyptian-brokered truce, which took effect after negotiations in Cairo.
