Israel's air force killed three Palestinian fighters with a missile strike in the northern Gaza Strip on Saturday, hospital officials said. According to Reuters, they identified the dead men as members of an Islamic Jihad rocket crew. An Israeli military spokeswoman said the air force attacked armed Palestinians. An earlier air strike wounded three Islamic Jihad activists.
Meanwhile, the armed wing of Hamas said on Saturday that it can strike Israeli helicopters with weapons which the Palestinian Authority abandoned when its forces were driven out of the Gaza Strip. "We consider the targeting of Israeli aircraft to be a new development because certain weapons became available to us after the military stabilisation," Abu Obeida, a spokesman for the armed wing of Hamas, told AFP.
"These weapons were in the arsenals of the Authority and were supplied to them by foreign countries," added said.
