Gaza Strip: Two Hamas men die as Israel still closing main fuel terminal

At least two Hamas members were killed and four injured in an explosion in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, the group and Palestinian medical workers said. According to Reuters, it was unclear what caused the blast in a house in the northern Gaza town of Jabaliya.

An Israel Defense Forces spokeswoman said she had no information about Israeli military activity in the area.

Meanwhile, the Strip's main fuel terminal will remain closed for a "few days" longer, an Israeli official said on Sunday, after an attack by Palestinians last week killed two Israeli civilians there. "The terminal will remain closed for a few days to give us time to check and decide on measures to ensure security," Tzahi Hanegbi, the head of parliament's foreign affairs and defence committee, told military radio.

According to him, "no strategic decision has been taken" to close the crossing indefinitely.

Israel shut the Nahal Oz crossing and fuel terminal on Wednesday. On Saturday Palestinian officials warned that the Gaza Strip's sole power plant could shut down again if it does not receive fresh supplies of fuel.
