Dubai’s position as the fashion hot bed of the Middle East is set to get a further boost with the opening of GCC’s first MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy, a professional make-up training center started by renowned international make-up artist, Dany Sanz, at the Paris Gallery outlet located in Dubai City Center. The announcement to open the Academy in Dubai was made last night (Saturday, 24th February, 2007) at a gala event held at the Park Hyatt in Dubai.

MAKE UP FOR EVER is an internationally recognised make-up brand formed by Dany Sanz that offers professional make-up artists a complete palette of colours, products and textures to achieve unmatched results. MAKE UP FOR EVER products are often the first choice for the fashion and show business industries and are fast becoming a highly popular brand among the public as well. Al Fahim Enterprises, the sole distributor of MAKE UP FOR EVER products in UAE, Qatar and Oman, has been chiefly responsible for setting up the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy in Dubai.

Speaking at the event, Dany Sanz said, “Dubai was a natural choice for us when we were planning to set up our academy in this region. The city is buzzing with activity and excitement, and the kind of growth being witnessed in Dubai in the recent years is certainly unbelievable. Even from a fashion and show business point of view Dubai has led the way, having been host to several high profile fashion and entertainment events. Taking these factors into consideration, it made perfect business sense for us to set up this academy in Dubai and capitalise on the booming demand for professional make-up artists.”

“Currently, our products are available at leading outlets including Paris Gallery, Faces and Debenhams in addition to our stand alone boutiques in Al Ain, Wafi Mall, Mega Mall (Sharjah) and a soon-to-be-opened outlet in Dubai Festival City. Through this academy we hope to share our know-how with the residents of the Arab world and with everyone who is interested in knowing more about the art of make-up,” she added.

The first MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy was launched in Paris in 2002 and today similar academies exist in Nice, Seoul, Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai, Beirut, Barcelona, Bologna, Finland, Leetonia and now Dubai. The launch ceremony at the Park Hyatt attracted several VIPs and celebrities who witnessed live make-over sessions, body painting by Dany Sanz and a fashion show featuring the creations of prominent designers including Salvatore Ferragamo, Al Yashmac, Etro and Arushi, with the hair styling done by reputed Lebanese hairdressers Pace e Luce.

The fully-equipped Academy located in the second floor of the Paris Gallery outlet in Dubai City Center will offer a range of short and long term courses covering modules such as ‘Self day make-up’, ‘Self evening make-up’, ‘Professional day make-up’, ‘Professional evening make-up’, ‘Professional event make-up’ and ‘Advance make-up information’. Professional make-up artists and other men and women interested in learning the art of professional make-up can enroll for the courses by visiting the Academy.

Mohammed Al Fahim, CEO, Al Fahim Enterprises, said, “It is both a privilege and an honour for Al Fahim Enterprises to be associated with the MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy. We have been working with the MAKE UP FOR EVER brand for several years now and our contribution in maximising the reach and popularity of the company’s products in the region has been significant. Now, with the setting up of this academy our role has become even more vital and we will continue to offer all our expertise and support to ensure the success of the academy. We expect around 500 students to enroll in the academy in its first year itself and our aim is to make this academy an exemplary model of service and professionalism.”
