German foreign minister Joschka Fischer said on Sunday that German intelligence officers have been supervising the cease-fire between the Israelis and the Palestinians in the Palestinian occupied territories.
The German Minister demanded a guarantee for Israel's right to exist, claiming "every one should know that Israel will not remain if it were militarily defeated."
In addition, Palestinians also need to establish an independent state of their own, as soon as possible, Fischer added.
During an interview with the German weekly Welt am Sonntag, cited by KUNA, Fischer said that these officers have done excellent jobs and worked on easing the conflict and putting an end to the exchange of fire between the Israelis and the Palestinians.
Furthermore, he warned of the possibility of new terrorist attacks, even against the Germans.
He stressed that the problem of terrorism and the danger of international terrorism, are not yet over. Warnings, recently issued by the Bush administration, proved that the danger of terrorism is still present.
Among other issues, Fischer referred to the 14 German victims who were killed as a result of a terrorist attack carried out by Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda organization in the Tunisian island of Jerba. (Albawaba.com)
