Germany twice came from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw with New Zealand to stay top of the table in the women's Champions trophy field hockey tournament in Amstelveen on Wednesday.
Robyn Matthews' free hit into Germany's circle from near the quarter-line found Kylie Foy, who opened the scoring in the 24th minute.
Germany equalized five minutes before the break when Natascha Keller beat three defenders, carrying from the centerline to the circle before laying off a short pass for Nadine Ernsting-Krienke to score from 3 meters out.
Mandy Smith finally hit the mark to put New Zealand back in front 2-1 converting Skippy McGregor's free hit in the 64th minute.
ARGENTINA DRAW WITH SOUTH AFRICA
Wearing dark navy uniforms with yellow numbers, South Africa needed a win or draw against Argentina after losses to the Netherlands and Germany, and a draw with New Zealand.
Fortunately for them, South Africa drew 2-2 with their opponents.
With two goals in the first half from Argentina's Laura Maiztegui and Vanina Oneto, South Africa felt their adrenaline rush as they retaliated with two goals from Pietie Coetzee and Kerry Bee scored the equalizer in the 68th minute.
NETHERLANDS DEFEAT AUSTRALIA
Meanwhile Netherlands defeated Australia 2-1 with a rebound shot to Julie Deiters who converted it to a back-stick shot in the 11th minute giving Netherlands their first goal.
While Susan van der Weilen scored in the 47th minute taking a rebound off Jenny Morris's stick and Australia's Triny Powell scored an opportunist goal in the 57th minute - (AFP)
