Global Village, a member of Tatweer and the region’s entertainment, shopping, and cultural attraction located in Dubailand, has prepared a host of festivities to usher in 2010.
With over 70 cultural and family entertainment shows, Global Village visitors can expect an amazing showcase of world-class talents from different sides of the globe on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The shows are free of charge, making Global Village the ideal venue to celebrate a colorful New Year.
Performances include the Street Fire Show, the Chinese Flying Pole Show, in addition to the regular African Acrobats, Tanoura, Kerala percussion band, and local bands. Close to Gate 3 and Gate 4, guests will find shows highlighting traditional dances and songs from UAE, Yemen, India, Lebanon, Palestine and Thailand. Performances in the China, West Africa and Pakistan pavilions will also entertain visitors near Gate 1 and Gate 2.
One of the New Year’s Eve highlights is a parade that will begin at 11:15pm and go until midnight. The parade will begin at Gate 1 in front of the Iran and Afghanistan pavilions and move along the Bidayati pavilion into the Human Cannonball area. Performers from each pavilion, dressed in their national attires, will also be part of the parade. DJ music will accompany a countdown to midnight after which David ‘The Bullet’ will shoot off from his cannon and during his flight, unfurl a banner wishing everyone a Happy New Year. Fireworks will also be set off to take visitors into the New Year.
With over 45 cultures and 31 pavilions, shopping at Global Village is literally a tour of one of the biggest outdoor souks. The pavilions are also gearing up to welcome visitors as part of New Year’s festivities.
A spectacular fireworks display, the traditional abras by the park's canal and lake, and a larger fun fair with new rides are additional incentives for families to celebrate the New Year at Global Village.
