Bad leadership costs more than money, according to Professor Adrian Furnham, Leadership Consultant with 8ack International.

He warns it can cost an organisation dearly as knowledge transfer into intellectual property is stifled, or, worse still, the firm can suffer a complete loss when a disgruntled employee leaves, taking knowledge – and business opportunities - with them.

Professor Furnham, Professor of Psychology at UK’s University College London (UCL) is heading a new-to-market programme geared to developing the leaders of today and tomorrow. ‘The four three-day forums and one two-day workshop, called developing Leaders, kick starts in February and can take learning to maximum levels,’ said Professor Furnham.

Mike Atack, 8ack’s Managing Director agrees good leadership can be taught.

“The good news is research shows that your ability to develop attributes of an outstanding leader, can be increased by 90 per cent with experiential learning. We use this research based five-pronged learning strategy in developing Leaders”.

He said that the developing Leaders five-part series – four three-day forums and a two-day workshop - journeys through instruction, assignment, coaching and accountability.

“The series takes participants through a fused process that embraces theory, demonstration, practise, corrective feedback and in-situation coaching. It is this five-pronged approach that really hits home and achieves results that accelerates participants’ personal leadership performance and thereby the performance of their organisation,’’ said Mr. Attack.

“developing Leaders delivers an experience for participants that rival those achieved by global business schools,’’ he added.
