Government Information Technology Departments and Bankers Work with Malaysia to Develop Strategies

Responding to an invitation of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Chairman of Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qassimi Group, Government Information Technology Departments and local banks held meetings over two days with a delegation representing the Malaysian government besides technology and Islamic banking companies, to discuss the prospects for exchanging experiences and discussing future investment opportunities.

Many parties from the public sector participated in the meetings, such as Dubai Municipality, Dubai Customs and the Ministry of Foreign Trade. In addition, the meetings attracted many representatives from the banking sector, such as Dubai Islamic Bank, Dubai Bank and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, besides a number of experts and bankers working in the local market.

The Malaysian government has adopted an initiative to foster and develop the growth of Information Technology and Communication (ITC) industry at national level, as well as providing a suitable environment to make use of this global industry.

"We deal with the United Arab Emirates as a strategic partner not only at the local level, but also as a major center to expand our business in the region and the world in general. The UAE is characterized by a suitable geographical location and enjoys high business progress. It also has strong relations with countries all over the world that supports our future steps. The UAE infrastructure and the legislative system have reached advanced and sophisticated ranks to apply electronic contracts, regardless of the used technological tools", Saiful Shamlan, vice president of (MDeC Malaysia) said.

“Malaysia is one of the countries that understand the concept of e-government and what it can offer to individuals and companies alike. We welcome all our guests from the UAE in particular as they are looking for developing the appropriate solutions that suit the needs of UAE society”, he added.

Shamlan also said that the ITC companies that participate in the private platform of these meetings represent a model of the comprehensive, reliable and modern services of ITC sector. At the same time, the same platform can be shared between various sectors in government and private business in both markets.

Dr. Moataz Mohamed, director of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi office said: "Malaysia is considered one of the leading countries in the fields of government IT and Islamic banking systems, especially in the light of its technical progress and Arab-Islamic culture that supports being a strategic partner for local companies."

He added, “The UAE is one of the advanced countries in the field of technology services which we seek to achieve excellence at all levels. This meeting comes as an opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge for building a better future.

The participating Malaysian companies provided a detailed presentation of the most important findings in the field of ITC and Islamic banking, in terms of programs, products and ways to transform bank websites through mobile phones and other premium products.

The participants stressed the importance of holding such events to strengthen bilateral relations and exchanging expertise and experience in the field of IT, banking services and the latest achievements in global markets, as the meeting had positive response by decision makers involved.

An agreement was signed between Sharjah TV and the Malaysian Asia Stream Company, to launch an Islamic television channel over the Internet. Sharjah was also selected as representative of the Islamic States Organization, and a headquarter for the Islamic cultural content on the Internet.
