The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) recently distributed school bags to the students of Arwa Bint Abdel Muttaleb Co-education Primary School, Al-Khushafiya Al-Janobiya Primary School for Boys in Uhod district, and Um 'Aamara Secondary School for Girls in Sahab.
The campaign was commenced as part of GAM's school bags initiative which was launched in August for the second year running, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
Several institutions of the private sector sponsor the campaign, namely Orange Jordan, Saraya Holdings, the Arab Egyptian Real-Estate Bank, and Al-Markaziya Vehicles Trading Company.
The human initiative is themed "Our Society, Our responsibility" which reflects GAM's partnership with the private sector in promoting the social responsibility by focusing on the social and humanitarian aspects and initiatives serving the local community. Such initiatives help in easing the financial burdens on citizens, assisting students to attain their right of education, and curbing the number of school dropouts.
Director of the Educational Department of Amman's Third District, Dr. Omar Massa'afa, praised GAM's approach in launching initiatives that enhance the corporate social responsibility, and pinpoint the culture of partnership and cooperation among all segments of the community.
He pointed that the campaign will has a positive impact on students by showing them the leading role of GAM in undertaking the social responsibility towards the local community.
It is worth mentioning that 15000 students will benefit from GAM's campaign, representing students of the low-income and needy families in Amman's districts of Sahab, Al-Mawaggar, Uhod, Husban, Um Al-Basateen, and Kherbet Al-Souk.
