Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has selected the nominees to join the pilgrimage expedition, following a ballot involving all GAM employees eligible for performing the fifth pillar of Islam.
The ballot took place in the presence of the Deputy Mayor, Engineer Amer Al Basheer, and the pilgrimage expedition leader, Yahya Al-Sa’oud, and a number of GAM council members.
The pilgrimage expedition comprises 100 pilgrims who qualified for the ballot according to set requirements, and seniority, in addition to veterans of GAM club, and GAM council members, including retired personnel together with administrators and supervisors.
The leader of the expedition Yahya Al-Sa’oud said, “in compliance with the directions of Mayor Omar Maani, to the effect that a great number of employees should be given the opportunity to perform the pilgrimage, the privilege given to Mayor of Amman, his deputy and the city manager, total of six seats, has been canceled.
It is worth noting that GAM bears all the expenses incurred on GAM pilgrims, including accommodation, daily expenses, and transportation.
