Greater Amman Municipality Organizes a Narcotics Workshop in Collaboration with Anti-Narcotics Department

Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Training Center, in collaboration with Anti-Narcotics Department organized recently, awareness workshop, within the national campaign for anti-narcotics, discussed the hazards of narcotics on the family and the society, and how to fight it.

Human Resources Director, Eng. Esmaeel Al-zaben, said, that the workshop aims at raising awareness towards health, economic, and social hazards on the family and the community.

In the same context, he pointed out also that narcotics phenomenon requires concerted efforts to combat it; he thanked Anti Narcotics Department efforts in protecting the community and maintaining its security.

Lieutenant Colonel, Khader Aal Khattab from Anti Narcotics Department, affirmed the importance of immunizing the community against narcotics and its hazards, pointing to the necessity of religious teachings to protect people from this dilemma that causes crimes, waste of capabilities, and lack of productivity.

The workshop also discussed the various dimensions and ramifications of addiction and types of narcotics. The reasons behind addiction and spreading were also tackled in the seminar. In addition, legislations and rules that explained the way of dealing with the addicted people, and laws that differentiate between narcotics users, dealers, and distributers were subject of deep discussion.

The workshop included the ways of addiction treatment and how to deal with the addicted people who ask for the help of Anti Narcotics Department Treatments Centers, which exempt users from punishment.

On the sidelines of the workshop, an exhibition, which included samples of narcotics, photos for different types, and awareness brochures about the ways of fighting it, was inaugurated.
