Nepal is to receive advice and training from Greece on developing its tourism industry during a ministerial meeting next month, it was announced Thursday.
Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou, who will visit Nepal in December, will discuss tourism among other matters, the Greek ambassador to Nepal told AFP.
"Our total population is merely ten million but we are receiving twelve million tourists from all over the world," ambassador Yannis Zepos said.
"We want to share with Nepal our experience in tourism sector and we will provide training to the Nepalese in tourism."
Two hundred thousand people are employed in Nepal's tourism sector, and hotels alone earn about 4.5 percent of the country's entire income.
Papandreou will be in Nepal between 17-19 December on the first leg of a three-nation South Asian visit,
Other areas to be discussed during the visit will be the development of hydro-electric power and environmental protection, Zepos said.
"Keeping in view of the grave pollution problem currently faced in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, Greece is willing to extend cooperation for its solutions," Zepos said – KATHMANDU (AFP)
