Gunmen burst into a bar in southwestern Colombia and indiscriminately opened fire, killing 12 people and injuring several others, Santander de Quilichao mayor Julieta Ortiz said Friday.
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen escaped from the scene in various cars.
Ortiz said no group has claimed responsibility for the killing. Both leftist rebels and paramilitary groups -- who have declared open war on each other -- operate in the area.
Civilians often get caught in the crossfire between the two groups and are accused of aiding one side against the other -- BOGOTA (AFP)
