Concerns over hair thinning and hair loss are among the leading
issues for middle-aged women according to haircare professionals industry research indicates that about 30 million women  about one in four – in the US itself suffer from this problem, with a comparable and increasing number worldwide.

“With customers becoming more aware about the problems of
hairloss, demand has increased for products and services that offer solutions to this issue,” said Mr Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive
Officer, Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organisers of Beautyworld Middle East, the premier trade event for the beauty and wellness industry in the region. “Hairloss is not merely a cosmetic issue, it impinges on the psychological and physical well being of the affected consumer. At Beautyworld Middle East, we bring together leading haircare and health experts to help identify consumers needs and address their concerns.”

Generally affecting women in the 25-45 age group, hair thinning or shedding can occur due to a number of reasons. It can be as a
reaction to certain medical conditions, due to bad reactions to
medicine or it can be caused by stress and overuse of certain
chemical-laced products. Another reason for hair loss can be due to genetic causes.

Among the exhibitors at this year’s edition of Beautyworld Middle East offering solutions to hairloss, hair thinning and promoting regrowth are the House of Maria Dowling with their Aminexil products, and Noura Hair & Beauty Supplies with Trioxinator products.

According to Asana Askarian, General Manager, Noura Hair & Beauty Supplies: “From the research I have done almost 25% of all women are affected by hair loss by the age of 45.  For some women, hair loss starts as early as 20.  One of the main reasons for hair loss in women is similar to that in men which is high levels of DHT.  Stress is another major cause, especially stress during pregnancy. Also it can result from excessive pulling of the hair which occurs with tight ponytails or braiding.”

Asana will be giving a presentation on hair loss and the different treatments available during the series of seminars and workshops called Nail It! By OPI which will take place in Hall 6 during
Beautyworld Middle East. During her presentation she will discuss the Ludwig Scale which is an industry standard introduced in order for women to check and diagnose female pattern hair loss or baldness.

Beautyworld Middle East 2010, which will be held at the Dubai
