ALBAWABA – An international probe of Palestinian detainee sexual abuse and torture at Israel's Sde Teiman military facility has been called for by Hamas and other Palestinian organizations.

Hamas decried the alleged abuses of thousands of Gazan captives at Sde Teiman in a statement. The statement accused Israeli officers and troops of systemic abuse and called for global attention to Israeli detention institutions.

Hamas called on the UN and human rights organizations to probe these captives' situations and destinies. The organization called for an international committee to investigate Israel's "horrendous and brutal crimes" against Palestinian detainees and to include them in Israel's case files at the ICJ and ICC.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Society's Kaddura Faris urged the international community to intervene quickly to stop the previous ten months' crimes against Palestinian inmates. He requested a UN investigation into the Sde Teiman military facility violations, where nine Israeli troops were imprisoned for sexually abusing and torturing a Palestinian captive.

Faris said that if Israel were a real state of law, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir would be arrested for encouraging prisoner violence.

President Ruhi Futuh of the Palestinian National Council also called an international probe into Israeli prison management harsh treatment of Palestinian inmates. The Palestinian Prisoners' Society President, Abdullah al-Zaghari, said the Sde Teiman abuses are just one of many atrocities against captives during the Gaza war.

Futuh and al-Zaghari urged the world community to stop crimes immediately. They stressed that the ICC must arrest Israeli authorities accountable for these violations.

Sde Teiman prison institution in southern Israel has been accused of abuse. The New York Times reported that Gaza inmates were detained in open-air conditions, blindfolded and shackled, for up to 18 hours a day and tortured.

Former Sde Teiman inmates have recounted horrific experiences, emphasizing the necessity for international action and justice.
