Fatah accused Hamas on Saturday of detaining over 140 Fatah activists in Gaza Strip. Fahmi al-Zarir, a spokesman for Fatah in the occupied West Bank, stated Hamas had made the arrests since Friday. A statement posted on Hamas' Interior Ministry Internet site said "some" Palestinians loyal to Prime Minister Salam Fayyad were detained as suspected informers for Israel.
Meanwhile, the remains of Israeli ordnance killed a Palestinian and injured another in the southern town of Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian sources conveyed. The blast on Saturday afternoon killed a 50-year-old man in a farm in Khan Yunis, it was reported.
