Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman in the Gaza Strip, on Saturday denied media reports that his Movement welcomed the Fatah central committee’s invitation to all Palestinian factions to join a national unity government. He told a local press agency that Hamas also did not have any reservations on the idea. “Hamas is currently deliberating the proposal and will declare its position at the opportune time”, Abu Zuhri underlined.

Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday that meetings of the Fatah Central Committee in Amman came due to the conditions of Palestinians in and out Palestine. ''Meetings held in Amman were successful and we agreed on all the raised issues,'' said Abbas, who also stressed the importance of following up the outcome of the meetings.

On the legislative elections, Abbas said that consultations are underway between the Palestinian factions to set a date for these elections.
