Hardware and Tools organised by Messe Frankfurt Middle East has confirmed its status as the region’s leading construction event following the news that it is to receive comprehensive support of the prestigious UAE Society of Engineers. The society, established in 1979, has played a major role in the region’s construction boom and is considered to be the principal forum for the engineering sector in the UAE.
Hardware and Tools Exhibition Manager, Melanie Beese underlined the significance of the Society’s involvement at Hardware and Tools, which opens on May 13-15 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. “We are extremely pleased to announce that the UAE Society of Engineers will be present in full force at Hardware and Tools 2007,” she says.
“This organisation has been responsible for promoting best practices and engineering excellence across the region for nearly two decades. They have played to role of a catalyst component in Dubai’s rapid transformation from that of a relatively small urban settlement into large, progressive city,” she remarked.
The UAE Society of Engineers was established to help provide training and to develop the professional abilities of engineers employed in both the government and private sectors. It provides assistance for individuals and organisations involved in all aspects of engineering and construction; a mission that is best summed up in its vision statement; ‘Towards Best Engineering Practices in the UAE.’
“The Society of Engineers has accumulated a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of engineering considering the vast projects currently underway across the region,” says Ms. Beese.
“Developments such as the Palm Islands and The World are responsible for creating new off-shore land masses that are posing unique challenges for the engineering industry. In addition, we also have the Dubai Metro taking shape and the soon-to-be world’s tallest building, the Burj Dubai - just two more major building programmes among many that are allowing engineers based in the UAE to set new standards and levels of accomplishment,” she adds.
Speaking on behalf of the Society, Mr. Maged Farouck Hanna, Vice-Manager of the Society of said, “The Society of Engineers has branches located in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ain and participates in all engineering activities across the UAE and other GCC countries. It has over 16,000 members and 900 companies registered.”
he noted that the Society provides training courses, supports the industry by conducting conferences and symposiums and chairs a number of committees; including architecture, surveying, electro-mechanics and civil engineering committees.
The Society also distributes information and publishes material related to the engineering field through its widely read journal; ‘World of Engineering.’
This year’s Hardware and Tools trade fair is the 8th in its history and promises to be the largest event of its kind, with exhibitors keen to tap into a construction market estimated at being worth at least $750 billion across the Gulf region.
Hardware and Tools 2007 will run in conjunction with five other Messe Frankfurt shows; the ISH Kitchen and Bathroom show, the Light Middle East exhibition, the Hometech Middle East and Garden show, Landscaping Middle East and the Toy Fair Middle East exhibition. More than 18,000 visitors are expected to visit the five shows combined over the three days.
