Beginning April 1, all expatriates in Kuwait will have to pay for health insurance.
Al Watan daily reports that the new prices published by the health ministry are as follows: KD50 for the head of the family, KD40 to his wife and KD30 for each other family member. The Kuwaiti health minister, Dr. Muhammad Jarallah, said that these prices are less than what the ministry originally considered (i.e. KD60 for the head of the family). They decided to lower the rate to reduce the burden on the expatriates. He added that the ministry works in cooperation with insurance companies to determine the policy. (KD1=$3.33).
